The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is currently one of the coolest products on the market. With an Intel core processor, a bundled surface pen and an optional type cover, the surface pro 4 is a complete package. The surface pro 4 is the latest laptop/tablet hybrid from Microsoft.
After the surface pro 3 that had a couple of issues ranging from a sloppy keyboard and a wonky track pad, the new laptop-like keyboard on the surface pro 4 is greatly improved. In addition, some of the earliest Surface Pro 4 models had bugs, but since then Microsoft has updated the firmware and removed the few issues that were a nuisance.
Display & Pen Input
The display on the Surface Pro 4 is sharper with a resolution of 2,736 x 1,824 resolution. Compared to Apple’s 13-inch retina Mac book Pro, the Surface Pro carries more pixels on its display. This makes for incredibly crisp text, razor sharp photos, and an incredible movie viewing experience.
For those who want to use the touchscreen, the buttons are smaller than that of the iPad, and this might initially be an issue for some users. However you can fix this issue by enlarging the icons on your display.
The Surface Pro 4 also delivers great colors no matter the kind of image. The brightness is high enough to still be visible even in direct sunlight. There is some reflection from other light sources as a result of the glass covered display, but all in all the gorilla glass display does a wonderful job at reducing the glare.
Having made some significant changes in the surface pen, Microsoft has improved the pressure sensitivity and the eraser at the top of the pen works incredibly well. With improved magnetism the pen attaches to the side of the surface as expected. Most reviews from other users reveal that using the surface pen feels great and that its almost as good as putting pen to paper.
Microsoft has made the screen of the Surface Pro 4 slightly larger at 12.3 inches, by chipping away at the bezel around the screen. Unfortunately they didn’t add much in terms of ports so if you are considering using the surface pro 4 by connecting it to your 4K external screen displays and other USB ports, you might need to get the Microsoft adapter that is sold separately.
The Microsoft proprietary power connector still fills insecure when connected and it’s unfortunate for some users that Microsoft have stuck to this design. But since you can never have enough of USB charging ports, the Surface Pro 4 has included an extra USB port for your convenience.
The new 5 megapixel front facing camera brings life to the Windows Hello app; an app that promises to revolutionize the way we communicate with computers. You can easily log in within seconds by using the Windows Hello app, using the front facing camera. On the back is an 8 megapixel camera that has the capacity for shooting 1080p videos.
The Surface Pro 4, being the ideal laptop/tablet hybrid, improves on the best parts of the Surface Pro 3 while keeping it’s pleasing design. Similar to the Pro 3, the Pro 4 comes with an adjustable kickstand and metallic-grey magnesium finish.
Microsoft has also gone a step further and has addressed issues with the design, particularly the issue of the surface pen docking mechanism. The magnetic lock on the Surface Pro 3 was more loose and the pen would detach when slightly nudged. Some users complained of the lock position as it placed the pen over the keys that control the power and the volume on the tablet. These issues have been fixed with the keys being moved to the top of the tablet and also by improving the strength of the magnet for the pen.
